11 May 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 THE British Grand Prix will be staged at Cardiff until at least 2011 after series organisers BSI confirmed a five-year extension to their deal. The Millennium Stadium event has proved to be a huge success since the first staging in 2001 with a 40,000-plus crowd expected this year. BSI MD Paul Bellamy said: ''We are delighted to have secured this contract to allow us to continue our successful relationship with the stadium.'' SPEEDWAY 2 ALUN Rossiter has assured Swindon fans that the absence of Renat Gafurov this week will not become a regular issue for the club to face. Gafurov misses the Robins'' matches against Coventry as he is racing in the Russian League. Rossiter said: ''It is totally out of our hands, but it''s a thing that will only affect us on a minimal amount of occasions during the season.''
