SAVE A BIKER''S LIFE - AND SAVE £S ON YOUR INSURANCE
15 May 2006 - Bikesure
5% discount on motorbike insurance when you complete the St. John Ambulance Emergency Aid for Bikers course
Emergency Aid for Bikers is a new course from St. John Ambulance designed to help save motorbikers lives. The launch of the course has been supported by motorbike insurance company Bikesure and now the company is underlining its commitment by offering a 5% discount on its policies to anyone taking the course. And the discount isn''t just a one-off: it applies for as long as you hold your policy with Bikesure, so it could save hundreds of pounds over the years. The course is all about what to do if you are first on the scene of a motorbiking accident; practical actions and emergency aid that you can undertake until the paramedics arrive. It includes the million-dollar question: do you take off the helmet? And, if so, how best to do it? St. John Ambulance is running the course at centres throughout England and Wales. It takes four hours and only costs from around £25. However, as a further incentive, Bikesure decided to offer the bonus of the 5% discount (or £25, whichever is greater) for anyone who completes the course. ''This is a specially designed course that should help reduce the deaths and serious injuries incurred by bikers,'' says Richard Evens, St. John Ambulance director of training and marketing. ''We are delighted that Bikesure is working with us.'' Robert Balls of Bikesure says the company is very committed to the St. John Ambulance scheme. ''It will help save lives,'' he says. ''What''s more, people taking the course are going to be more aware of the risks and will probably ride more safely. ''For bikers paying a high premium the discount could more than pay for the course, from day one, and they''ll make big savings over the years. Even those with small premiums will cover the cost of the course over time.'' The discount is available to current Bikesure customers, when they renew their policy, and bikers taking out new policies. To claim it they simply need to send in a photocopy of the certificate they will be given on completing the course. To find out about your nearest course, call your local St. John Ambulance centre on 08700 10 49 50. Bikesure has a huge range of specialist policies for the motorcycle enthusiast, including schemes for trikes and quads.
