SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
09 May 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 MIKAEL Max will make his Elite League comeback on Wednesday when he lines up for Arena-Essex against parent club Wolves. The Swede has been out since breaking his thigh in Sweden last July, but now replaces short-term signing Andreas Jonsson for the Hammers. Arena boss Ronnie Russell said: ''We have waited a long time for this day and I for one can''t wait for him to race.'' SPEEDWAY 2 WORLD Champion Tony Rickardsson''s manager Olli Tyrvainen has categorically denied rumours that the Swede is to bring forward his retirement. Rickardsson failed to make the semi-finals in last weekend''s European Grand Prix, but Tyrvainen has blamed bike problems for his early exit. He said: ''The rumours are not true, Tony is not retiring early. We had an electrical fault with the bike in Wroclaw and were down on power.''
