07 May 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE VUE skipper Jason Crump stormed to his first Grand Prix win of the season in Poland - and took over the overall world championship lead. Crump, world champion in 2004, got the better of Reading duo Greg Hancock and Matej Zagar and home favourite Jaroslaw Hampel in a tense final. Top British rider Scott Nicholls, the Coventry captain, reached the semi-finals for a second successive Grand Prix but missed out on progress to the final. SPEEDWAY 2 NEWPORT''S Craig Watson was taken to hospital with arm injuries after a horror crash at Stoke. The meeting was abandoned with the home side 50-36 ahead after Watson went under the air barrier and into the fence when chasing Mark Lemon and Carl Wilkinson. Potters man Paul Clews said: ''I was right behind him and he just seemed to launch forward and missed the turn all together.''
