SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 5 MAY
05 May 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 OXFORD promoter Aaron Lanney has refuted speculation that he is planning to make further team changes in the near future. Lanney said: ''I''ve read it on various forums and heard rumours, but let me squash such notions here and now. ''I feel that we''ve turned something of a corner and our season is really beginning to take off, so changes are not necessary at this stage.'' SPEEDWAY 2 WORKINGTON reserve Lee Derbsyhire was taken to hospital with a suspected compound leg fracture after a crash at Sheffield on Thursday. Derbyshire fell during Heat 2 and early reports indicate that he has a broken leg in two places. Comets co-promoter Denise Drury said: ''It''s terrible news for all of us, especially as Lee was also in the middle of his University exams.''
