SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 2.5.06
02 May 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

NEWCASTLE''S James Grieves has slammed Newport boss Tim Stone for suggesting he had a boxing background after striking out at Neil Collins.
Grieves was thrown out of the meeting in South Wales on Sunday by top referee Tony Steele.
He said: ''I deserved to be punished, but I still have the right to be furious with Tim Stone for dragging a totally non-existent part of my sporting life into his comments.''

SPEEDWAY 2

FURIOUS Belle Vue promoter Ian Thomas has slammed uninformed Internet claims that rival captains Jason Crump and Scott Nicholls will miss Wednesday''s Elite Shield match at Kirkmanshulme Lane (7 45).
There is a full Polish League programme on Wednesday and website
correspondents have jumped to the incorrect conclusion that both clubs will be forced to field weakened teams.
Thomas rapped: ''I''m sick of these people making uninformed guesses about
what is happening and putting it on websites, often as fact. Incorrect
stories like this can affect our business.''
