TIGERS BOOK STEAD TO FACE REIGNING CHAMPIONSSHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS v EDINBURGH MONARCHSPREMIER LEAGUETHURSDAY AUGUST 26 – 7.45
SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS look to keep alive their hopes of a top eight Premier League place when they face Edinburgh at Owlerton on Thursday. Workington’s Simon Stead has been booked as a guest replacement for injured skipper Sean Wilson against the reigning Premier League champions. Co-promoter Neil Machin said: ''In Peter Carr, Rory Schlein and Frede Schott they have some big hitters who can score well anywhere and we will need to be on form. ''They also have Matthew Wethers and Theo Pijper in the second string department and they will provide some very solid backing because they are big track riders without a doubt. ''The Monarchs continue to dominate on their own track at Armadale so we need as big a win as possible tonight in order to go to their place on September 3 with every chance of the aggregate bonus point. ''I expect a good meeting. To be fair, the last couple of meetings here at Owlerton haven''t been up to the normal standard because the opposition have been so weak. ''I don''t expect that to be the case tonight and there will be some keenly contested racing from both teams.” SHEFFIELD: Simon Stead, Andrew Moore R/R, Richard Hall, Ricky Ashworth, Andre Compton, James Birkinshaw, Ben Wilson. EDINBURGH: Frede Schott, Matthew Wethers, Rory Schlein, Theo Pijper, Peter Carr, Cameron Woodward, Sean Stoddart.
