WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
26 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

ELITE LEAGUE: ARENA-ESSEX 48 WOLVERHAMPTON 42WOLVERHAMPTON''S quest to secure second spot in the Elite League table was held up by Arena-Essex at Purfleet on Wednesday night, the Hammers edging to a six-point win.

The bonus point was banked by the Monmore men courtesy of their massive win on home territory earlier in the month, but a patched up Hammers outfit proved sharper from the gate at the key moments of the return contest. Mikael Max put in a brilliant show for the visitors, demonstrating mastery of the tricky Purfleet raceway in dropping just one point, to home No.1 Mark Loram, but getting revenge on two subsequent occasions. Unfortunately he was lacking support in terms of race winners as Arena kept alive their flickering play-off hopes, securing their win with a Heat 14 5-1 from Leigh Lanham and guest Gary Havelock.
ARENA-ESSEX: Mark Loram 14, Gary Havelock 12+2, Roman Povazhny 8+1, Leigh Lanham 7, Ray Morton 5, Greg Walasek 2+1, r/r for Paul Hurry.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Mikael Max 14, Adam Skornicki 9, Sam Ermolenko 7, Chris Neath 5+2, David Howe 5+1, Fredrik Lindgren 2+1, r/r for Daniel Nermark.
