WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
24 April 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off an amazing comeback to claim all three points on offer from their 48-45 Elite League win over Eastbourne at Monmore. Skipper Peter Karlsson was at his awesome best to inspire his side who were staring defeat in the face with only four races to go. Wolves chief Peter Adams brought in his captain for a tactical substitution in Heat 12 which changed the match. Karlsson passed both Dean Barker and Lewis Bridger within the first lap and partner Ronnie Correy stood aside to let him through for the six-points and a vital 8-1. Billy Hamill finally got his act together with a precious win in Heat 13 to partner Karlsson to a 5-1 which put the Monmore men ahead for the first time. But there was more drama to come as Freddie Lindgren almost crashed into Dean Barker in the penultimate race and was relegated to the back as Eastbourne romped to a 5-1. Once again it was Karlsson and Hamill who teamed up to save the day for the home side with a maximum in the last heat decider after Norris fell when trying to avoid a locked up Karlsson. WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 19+2, Billy Hamill 11, Freddie Lindgren 6, Ronnie Correy 5+1, William Lawson 4, Magnus Karlsson 3, Christian Hefenbrock 0. EASTBOURNE: Lewis Bridger 14, David Norris 11, Dean Barker 9+3, David Howe 5, Andrew Moore 4+1, Andrew Appleton 2+2.
