TURNING POINT FOR TRIUMPH
26 August 2004 - Triumph ValMoto

The Triumph ValMoto team is hoping that this weekend will be the turning point to the 2004 season that they have been working towards.

Round 11 sees the British Supersport Championship return to Cadwell Park – the 2.1730-mile circuit where the 2003 title was claimed.

Although Craig Jones did not enjoy a particularly successful event at the Lincolnshire circuit last year, the 19-year-old is optimistic ahead of the race on Monday 30 August. As always, a huge Bank Holiday crowd is expected to descend on the track and visitors are certain to be treated to more nail-bitingly close action in the 600cc Supersport class.

The team tested the Triumph ValMoto Daytona 600 at Cadwell Park last week, but were unable to maximise their time at the track because of circumstances beyond their control. Team manger Jack Valentine said: “I’m disappointed at only getting limited track time at Cadwell Park, due to the circuit being covered in heavy cement dust from an incident at an earlier car racing event.”

Even though the 13-round championship is drawing to a close, the talented rider and his crew are as determined as ever to put in a strong performance this weekend and get their season back on track in the ultra-competitive series.

Jack said: “I’m hoping for a bit of a break this weekend to get the turning point that we have been waiting for. All of the team have worked really hard this year and we are as focused as we always are. It would be nice to be rewarded for that effort at Cadwell Park.”

Craig Jones said: “There are still three races left this season and I am certainly not ready to give up. My season finishes when I pass the chequered flag at the final round at Donington Park and not before. I am concentrating on a top three finish for Cadwell Park, just as I do for every round.”
