It was tough for me to have a good pace. Those guys (Ricky and James) are being more aggressive and I just gave up on that.” “I think I could have made a pass a little earlier but I didn’t feel it. I was struggling with the dirt and playing it too safe. I went for an aggressive pass and I got by him (Byrne) and put some good laps in and rode for third.” “I can’t be as aggressive as I want to be and I just have to let it come to me.” “I went in there hard; yelling and screaming. I didn’t really want to make contact but I needed to get that pass done if I had a shot at it. It worked out good, I gapped him right away and then Ricky got into some lappers and I gained on him a little. I just didn’t have it tonight to make it happen.” “Hurt or not I am always happy to see whoops.” Ricky Carmichael
“Definitely, he (James) has ridden exceptionally well all year not just these last three races. I think he has put it together these last three races for sure. I’m looking forward to working on that and getting better at the beginning and being there at the end. He put in some great laps at the beginning and rode great the whole race but he really shined the first five or eight laps.” “I was pretty consistent all night and I was pumped with my starts. We’re working hard and making some improvements on the engine. So, I am super pumped about that and now if we could just get it fine tuned we’ll be right where we need to be.” “I’m trying my hardest and I would love to win straight up. I don’t want to make a mistake or anything. So, it’s been fun for me and really motivating. I’m looking forward to it and am really happy with the progress we’ve made with my starts.” “I’m just going to do what I want to do; get off the beaten path a little bit, relax and try to regroup for Dallas.” “I had some problems after St. Louis with my wrist. I got that taken care of and I feel good. I’m just hanging in there and it’s been fun. I know James has won three in a row and I have two. I guess we split AMA wins, he’s got six and I’ve got six and we’re tied for the FIM. So, it’s fun and it’s what everybody wants too see. I’m glad to be a part of it.” James Stewart “A little bit of everything. I feel good. I have been getting good starts and that’s the one thing that has been helping me. The starts weren’t that good tonight. The heat race went bad and then in the main I came up second or third. I just got up there and rode a good pace. I kept an eye on Ricky and just rode the rest.” “I definitely got good laps in the beginning, it was smoother and I felt in control. There was no need for me to push it any harder. I had a good gap where you couldn’t tell what lines I was taking with the lappers and just the way the track changes there was no reason to try and push it. “ “If it was easy you would be out there winning races as well. It’s definitely hard; the track changes every lap, especially with the loose dirt. I just gotta change it up every lap. It’s tough but we’re getting the job done now.” “It’s been thirteen weeks. I’m happy and healthy; I can’t ask for anything better. If we had to keep on racing I could. There’s no stress. I’m happy to have a little break and get ready for other races.” Past Stadium Winners Texas Stadium Irving, TX AMA Supercross April 2, 2005: James Stewart April 17, 2004: Chad Reed April 12, 2003: Ricky Carmichael April 21, 2001: Ricky Carmichael April 08, 2000: Kevin Windham February 27, 1999: Kevin Windham April 25, 1998: Ezra Lusk April 26, 1997: Jeff Emig March 23, 1996: Jeremy McGrath April 29, 1995: Doug Henry April 23, 1994: Mike LaRocco March 28, 1993: Jeremy McGrath May 30, 1992: Damon Bradshaw April 27, 1991: Damon Bradshaw April 07, 1990: Jean-Michel Bayle April 01, 1989: Jeff Ward April 16, 1988: Rick Johnson April 04, 1987: Rick Johnson April 26, 1986: David Bailey May 04, 1985: Rick Johnson April 14, 1984: Johnny O’ Mara April 16, 1983: Mike Bell March 26, 1977: Bob Hannah March 19, 1976: Jim Ellis February 28, 1975: Jim Ellis March 01, 1975(b): Steve Stackable AMA Supercross Lite April 2, 2005: Grant Langston April 17, 2004: Ivan Tedesco April 12, 2003: James Stewart Jr. April 20, 2002: Travis Preston April 21, 2001: Grant Langston April 08, 2000: Greg Schnell February 27, 1999: Nathan Ramsey April 25, 1998: John Dowd April 26, 1997: Kevin Windham March 23, 1996: Mickael Pichon April 29, 1995: Damon Huffman April 23, 1994: Jimmy Button March 28, 1993: Doug Henry May 30, 1992: Jeremy McGrath April 27, 1991: Jeremy McGrath April 07, 1990: Denny Stephenson April 01, 1989: Mike LaRocco April 16, 1988: Ty Davis April 04, 1987: Kyle Lewis April 26, 1986: Keith Turpin May 04, 1985: Bobby Moore
