BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 24.8.04
24 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
STEVE Johnston is ready for a hectic night of racing as Swindon stage two meetings in one night against Coventry on Thursday (7pm).
The Robins favourite said: ''Hopefully we can get the bike set up right, get everything working and have a good evening. ''I want as many rides as I can get and if we all get it together, two more wins will move us closer to the Play-Offs.'' ISLE of Wight boss Dave Pavitt has switched this Thursday''s Premier Trophy clash with Newport to a league meeting. He said: ''The Premier Trophy has been won by Exeter but I admit we need to complete our group fixtures if at all possible. ''But the weather is a nightmare and we need to get our Premier League fixtures logged above anything else at this stage, hence our decision for Thursday.'' STOKE promoter Dave Tattum has slammed some of his riders after seeing the Potters slip to a second successive home defeat at the hands of champions elect Hull. He said: ''When you have four riders that half a dozen points between them there is no chance and I, and the supporters, feel let down. ''We can''t have heat leaders scoring like Pickering and Kessler did, it''s just not good enough.''
