SPEEDWAY NEWS 10 APRIL
10 April 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

ANGRY Berwick promoter Peter Waite questioned the desire of some of his riders after the Bandits were beaten at home again by Newcastle.

Former Berwick star Josef Franc made another triumphant return to Shielfield Park with a 15-point maximum.

Waite said: ''Newcastle wanted it more than some of our lads, and they were the better team on the night. All I will say is watch this space.''

NEWCASTLE manager George English was left fuming after the Diamonds failed to build on Saturday''s win at Berwick by losing at home to Edinburgh.

English''s frustration was increased by the fact that his team held a ten-point lead after nine races before throwing the match away.

English said: ''Edinburgh rode magnificently but our performance over the last six heats was nothing short of diabolical.''
