BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 21.8.04
21 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BELLE Vue legends Chris Morton and Peter Collins are keeping a close watch on the situation at their former club which is up for sale.
Morton said: ''It''s sad to see the problems they are suffering but it is a retrievable situation.'' ''Speedway has a lot of credibility at the moment with live coverage on Sky TV,'' said Collins, ''it''s important that clubs like Belle Vue keep going.'' SWINDON owner Terry Russell has made a superb gesture to frustrated fans after the abandonement of their meeting with Wolves on Thursday. Supporters who produce a re-admission ticket at turnstiles for the re-arranged clash on August 29 will be admitted free. Boss Alun Rossiter said: ''It''s been a nightmare for ourselves and the fans and this is Terry''s way of thanking supporters for their loyalty throughout the season.''
