TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES POSTS 58% SALES INCREASE IN NORTH AMERICA
07 April 2006 - Triumph Motorcycles Ltd

Triumph Motorcycles (America) Ltd. (TMA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Triumph Motorcycles Limited, announced today that retail sales in the US reached 1070 units in March, which is a new single month sales record for the Hinckley, UK based motorcycle manufacturer.

This is a 58% increase over the same month last year. TMA’s previous monthly sales record was 1067 units and was set in April, 2005.

Innovative new products that set the British manufacturer apart from the competition have driven Triumph’s growth in recent years. With groundbreaking models such as the 2,300cc Rocket III cruiser, the stylish Sprint ST sports tourer and the new Daytona 675 sport bike, Triumph offers consumers a broader product line than any other European road bike manufacturer.

Triumph’s success in North America mirrors that of Triumph’s other key markets globally. In November 2005 Triumph announced a 42% increase in turnover in the 2005 financial year. Group turnover rose by 42% from GBP 125 million (USD 225m) to GBP 177 million (USD 318m). The operating profit, before interest and tax, rose from GBP 1.5 million (USD 2.7m) to GBP 10.7 million (USD 19.2m). In the year under review, unit sales of Triumph motorcycles rose to 31,600, representing a growth of 29% compared to the previous year’s sales of 24,500 units.

“Public reaction to the new Daytona 675 and Scrambler models has been fantastic,” said Tue Mantoni, Triumph Motorcycles UK Commericial Director. “But we’re equally pleased with the performance of the rest of range, as sales of all our existing models have continued to grow. This growth has put Triumph back in its proper place as the largest European retailer of road bikes in the U.S.”

Triumph’s growth in March was led by sales of the new Daytona 675. This “Incomparable” new bike reinvented the middleweight sports bike category with its distinctive triple-cylinder engine. Triumph’s growth was also spurred by the introduction of the new Scrambler 900. As the original manufacturer of modern classics, Triumph continues to lead the industry with innovative new designs that offer a fresh and contemporary twist on the classic bikes from the ‘60s.
