BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 22.8.04
22 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

IPSWICH star Hans Andersen was a shock winner of the Scandinavian Grand Prix in the Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg.

But the real winner was Jason Crump who finished second to extend his championship lead to 23-points with three rounds to go. Belle Vue man Crump said: ''I just need to keep getting points over the guys near me. It''s the final where you have to get the points.''

FAVOURITES Workington followed up last year''s Pairs title when they lifted the Premier League Fours championship on their home Derwent Park circuit. The Comets dropped just seven points in the Final as they beat Stoke by a nine-point margin, with Glasgow claiming third place. Simon Stead was unbeaten throughout the meeting with five race wins, and team-mate Carl Stonehewer only dropped two points in front of a bumper crowd.

WOLVERHAMPTON manager Peter Adams is refusing to take victory for granted when he leads his side into derby action against Coventry at Monmore on Monday. He said: ''When Coventry were with us earlier this season they could have got a result if they had more backing. ''If the Bees supporters turn out in their usual numbers it could make a difference and we''ll need to be on our guard.''
