AIRWAVES DUCATI TO PROVIDE INTERACTIVE PIT TOURS
07 April 2006 - Airwaves Ducati
As announced in late January the Airwaves Ducati team has signed Direct CCTV & Security Systems Ltd as an Official Technical Partner to the team for 2006.
The Kent based company is a specialist in the design, installation and maintenance of the best bespoke security solutions for the commercial and domestic market. As an Official Partner to the team they will provide top of the range CCTV systems within many areas of team infrastructure. One of the most exciting opportunities that Direct CCTV offers the team is the ability to transmit live pictures from the pits to the Airwaves Ducati hospitality suite. This facility is believed to be the first of its kind in British Superbikes and elsewhere in the motorsport industry. Direct CCTV’s expertise were impressively displayed for the first time at round one of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch on March 26th. They installed 6 cameras which transmitted live pictures from the number 1 garage up to Airwaves Ducati VIP hospitality suite so that guests could witness the 2005 championship winning team in action. In addition to this, the Airwaves Ducati hospitality suite was also monitored throughout the weekend by Direct CCTV cameras. The facility received excellent feedback with numerous hospitality guests commenting on the equipment and the quality of picture that it broadcasts instantaneously from the pits to the plasma screens. Similar equipment will be installed at the next British Superbike race at Donington Park on April 9th. The system will enable the guests in hospitality to see the circuits newly re-furbished pit lane and garages as well as the Airwaves Ducati team and riders at work. Direct CCTV Managing Director Chris Percy said “As an official technical partner of the Airwaves Ducati team – the reigning BSB Champions – we wanted to bring a CCTV system which was unique and fitted around the teams activities.” Colin Wright, Airwaves Ducati Team Manager added, “We are very pleased to have Direct CCTV on board as they supply the team with first class, cutting edge security solutions. The quality of picture and wireless technology also means they can provide guests with interactive pit tours from the hospitality unit, which is to the best of our knowledge a world first.” Chris Percy elaborated, “By achieving this bespoke setup, hospitality guests were able to appreciate the amount of work the team carries out before a warm up let alone prior to a race, to put this into perspective we programmed the digital system to record on activity only. We can now reveal after viewing the footage that the system recorded between 11-12 hours per day over three days, which just goes to show why the Airwaves Ducati team are champions in their own right and we at Direct CCTV are proud to be part of it.”
