ROCKET START FOR KTM JMRACING AT MX3 GP SEASON OPENER - 03.04.2006
04 April 2006 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG

Castelnau de Levís, a French town near Toulouse close to the Spanish border, hosted this weekend´s first MX-3 GP and European MX-2 race of 2006.

No sandblasting in the south of France, instead ,a technical unforgiving concrete hard track which left our Dunlop tyres screaming for mercy when approx. 8000 spectators enjoyed top-level MX-racing as the gate dropped.

Our RedBull-KTM riders Yves Demaria, Sven Breugelmans and Joel Roelants got off to a flying start by dominating the event.

Jacky Martens comments on Yves Demaria;''Yves is fantastic on hard-track, he is one of the most talented hardtrack-riders I know and he proved this once again this weekend by winning the qualifier and both races to win the GP.Sven has also improved his riding on hard surface because he gave Yves a pretty difficult time by scoring two holeshots and he constantly swapped positions with Yves during the race.Sven nailed a 2-3 score for 2nd for the day.''

''In MX-2 Joel Roelants, who couldn´t even qualify here last year, silenced the critics by immidiatly winning his first european race in style for RedBull-KTM JMracing! His 7th place result in the second race made him miss the podium by just one point for 4th position overall.During race-debriefing, Joel learns where to improve but still lacks some of the international MX-experience his older competitors have. With only 16 years of age, time is on our side....''says teammanager Jacky Martens.

Sven Breugelmans comment´s on his first 2006 GP performance; ''Riding on what is practically Yves hometrack got me into serious trouble last season. Not so this year! We practically set identical fastest laps and I gave Yves a good run for the money. We played cat and mouse and I felt much more confident than last year. In the second race however I was over-anxious and to agressive on the throttle which resulted in a loss of traction here and there. Still, I am very pleased with todays outcome...''according to Sven.

Joel Roelants says;''When French rider Steven Frossard crashed in the first lap of the first race, I suddenly found myself in leading position. My 250SXF was running exellent and everything fell into place.I was not nervous and made no mistakes, riding felt very easy, like clockwork I worked my way through the laps, a fantastic feeling! The second race I was more nervous and I started making mistakes which kept me out of a good rythm. Forcing myself trough the race cost more energy and I was pretty tired when the checkered flag came in sight for 7th position.Still this has been a good day for me and Jacky has learned me a couple of things to remember...''
