WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY: LEGEND IN MONMORE FAREWELL

ONE of the world''s greatest ever speedway riders makes his last appearance at Wolverhampton''s Monmore Green Stadium on Monday (7.30pm). Tony Rickardsson, who equalled Ivan Mauger''s record of six world titles last year, is retiring at the end of the season and will leave his short term position with Oxford at easter. Wolves are hot favourites to reach the quarter-finals of the Elite League Knockout Cup as they defend a 47-43 lead from the first leg. Former Wolves favourites David Howe and Adam Skornicki are included in the Cheetahs side - along with the great man Rickardsson. Parrys International Wolves skipper Peter Karlsson insists he won''t be taking anything for granted despite the first leg lead. He said: ''It''s nice to be in a position like this, but Oxford have riders who can score very well around our track. ''Everyone expects us to go through but we won''t be complacent, we''ll be looking to do a professional job.'' Ronnie Correy is expected to make his Wolverhampton return subject to final approval from the British Speedway Promoters'' Association.
