EASTBOURNE''S Nicki Pedersen will defend his Elite League Riders'' Championship crown at Poole on Easter Sunday, April 16 (5pm).

It''s the earliest ever staging of the star-studded event which is sure to attract a bumper crowd at Wimborne Road.

And Pedersen said: ''I was delighted to win the title last year and I''m determined to do it again. It''s going to be tough because the line-up is so strong.''

SPEEDWAY 2

JOE Screen will ride through the pain barrier when he takes his place in Belle Vue''s side for their Elite League clash with Peterborough on Monday (7.45).

It will be just 18 days since Screen broke his collarbone in the Elite Shield meeting at Coventry.

He said: ''The physio told me I could ride when I could stand the pain, but I know about pain from when I broke my leg!''
