I tried to ride my own race and put some good laps together. Every lap I learned something new and started doing a few other sections that I hadn’t done all day. I just rode into a rhythm and put some solid laps together.” “The track was fast and the turns were wide open. I put myself to the inside and he (Ricky) was being smart and going back underneath. That’s all part of the game.” “When you try to figure out where the lappers are going to go, you have to change your mind at the last minute. I got caught off guard. It was a tough section. I just tried to put some laps together.” “With every lap, I feel like I rode better. I started getting the rhythm section down. It was actually a little easier on my shoulder because I wasn’t landing on the ground so much, I was more in the air. “I started concentrating on hitting my turns and the whoops. I tried to figure out a way to be faster. I’m not being aggressive in the whoops and that’s where I’m losing time.” “We’ve been working our butts off. Everyday, I do what I need to do to get my shoulder strong. I’ve just accepted the fact that it’s an injury that’ll be here a while and I just gotta do my part by keeping strong and giving it everything I got. Never give up and fight ‘til the end.” “It’s my problem. Obviously, I know I can ride better without a shoulder injury but it is what it is. I feel I’m giving up some on the track and that sucks but I’m figuring out how to ride my race with my situation.” Ricky Carmichael “It was a race for the fans. Those two guys (Chad Reed and James Stewart) got out there and I found myself in the back. I’m disappointed in my starts. So, I am going to try and work on that and get it better. I really feel it put me in a lot of positions I didn’t want to be in. It’s my fault and I have no one to blame except myself.” “It was tough. It always seems when I go to pass him (Chad Reed), I’m always on the outside. We’re both riding hard and obviously he didn’t want me to get by him. I got by him and everything was good and then I got hung up behind the lappers. The lappers were bad tonight. Normally I don’t have a problem but tonight it just seemed like they had nowhere to go. I almost crashed when Chad got by me. I just went on the inside because there was a ton of people on the outside. They all just came to a stop and I almost ran into them and fell down. Chad had a little gap and got by me. So, I had to bust my butt to get by him. “I’d definitely like to see something happen. It’s tough, especially during the whoops. We could get by the lappers if there was an alternative line. It was tough on all of us. They were bad for me, bad for Chad and I’m sure they were bad for James.” “I lost my cool right when the gate dropped when I was going down the start straight. I was pretty upset with myself, but it was my fault. I have no one to blame but myself. I’m bummed because I feel that I am way better than I was last week and I was looking forward to having a good race with James. I really felt it was going to be fun and that’s what the fans needed, but unfortunately, I didn’t pull through and everybody else did.” “I’m worried about myself, not anybody else. I have my goals and I’m not worried about anyone. I need to take care of myself before I worry about someone else.” “I’m really happy with the way I rode tonight. I feel I was better and didn’t leave anything out there. “ “No it’s not conservative mode. I just want to go out there and race for the lead. If you win races the championships come. We’re in good position for the AMA title not in such a good position for the World title. It’s a good battle; good for the fans and fun for us.” James Stewart “I saw Ricky coming and I saw Chad. I knew those two were going to start battling because their so close for AMA points. I just wanted to ride and put twenty consistent laps together. The track changed a lot and all I could do was to try and stay up. “ “Basically, I was racing the lappers a few times in a couple sections. It was a good night.” “I think the track was a little smoother. I think it was more technical this week. This week it was all about staying up and getting good laps.” “I know for sure I have the fastest bike out there. So, that’s definitely helped me off the starts because even when I don’t get a good jump. I am comfortable knowing it’s going to pull. That’s really the only difference.” “I just want to win races. I figure if I win races, I’ll come out close to winning the title. I’m just going out there and doing my own thing and getting good times. “ “I knew I didn’t want to override the track. I got screwed up a few times with the lappers but I kept my pace the same. It was a good ride though.” Past Stadium Winners Reliant Stadium Houston, TX AMA Supercross April 30, James Stewart February 14, 2 Chad Reed March 29, 2003: Chad Reed March 23, 2002: Ricky Carmichael March 24, 2001: Ricky Carmichael February 05, 200 Jeremy McGrath March 19, 1999: Jeremy McGrath January 17, 1998: Ezra Lusk March 22, 1997: Jeff Emig March 16, 1996: Jeremy McGrath March 25, 1995: Jeremy McGrath January 22, 1994: Jeremy McGrath January 16, 1993: Damon Bradshaw January 18, 1992: Damon Bradshaw January 19, 1991: Jean-Michel Bayle February 03, 199 Damon Bradshaw March 18, 1989: Jeff Stanton February 06, 19 Jeff Ward February 07, 19 Jeff Ward February 02, 19 Jeff Ward April 20, 1985: Jeff Ward March 24, 1984: David Bailey March 20, 1983: Mark Barnett March 19, 1983: Bob Hannah March 20, 1982: Mark Barnett March 19, 1982: Mark Barnett March 14, 1981: Mark Barnett March 13, 1981: Mark Barnett March 14, 1980: Mike Bell March 15, 1980: Broc Glover March 17, 1979: Bob Hannah March 16, 1979: Bob Hannah March 18, 1978: Bob Hannah March 18, 1977: Tony DiStefano March 19, 1977: Jim Ellis March 12, 1976: Jim Weinerd March 14, 1975: Jim Ellis March 15, 1974: Jim Pomeroy AMA Supercross Lite April 30, 2005: Andrew Short February 14, 2004: James Stewart March 29, 2003: Brock Sellards March 23, 2002: Matt Walker March 24, 2001: Travis Preston February 05, 2000: Derrick Shae Bentley March 19, 1999: Nathan Ramsey January 17, 1998: David Vuillemin March 22, 1997: Kevin Windham March 16, 1996: Kevin Windham March 25, 1995: Damon Huffman January 22, 1994: Ezra Huffman January 16, 1993: Jimmy Gaddis January 18, 1992: Brian Swink January 19, 1991: Tallon VohlandJ February 03, 1990: Jeff Emig March 18, 1989: Mike LaRocco February 06, 1988: Jeff Matiasevich February 07, 1987: Keith Turpin February 02, 1986: Willie Surratt April 20, 1985: Eddie Warren
