SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 21.3.06
21 March 2006 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SPEEDWAY 1

COVENTRY launched their Elite League title defence with an impressive 49-41 win at Reading on Monday.
Six of the Bees'' seven riders won at least one race, leading to an unhappy top flight baptism for the Bulldogs.
Coventry co-boss Peter Oakes said: ''It''s a terrific result for us, especially as I don''t think there will be many teams who come here and win. Reading are a powerful team.''

SPEEDWAY 2

THIRTEEN times World Darts Champion Phil Taylor will be the guest of honour when Poole open their Elite League campaign against Arena-Essex on Wednesday.
''The Power'' is in action in his own sport at nearby Bournemouth 24 hours later, and becomes an honouray No.8 for the Pirates.
Poole promoter Matt Ford said: ''We are very honoured that Phil has accepted our invitation and we hope he enjoys the speedway experience.''

SPEEDWAY 3

REDCAR newcomer Chris Kerr plans to use the advice of two former World Champions during his first season in the Premier League.
The Bears will be captained by the experienced Gary Havelock, whilst Kerr is currently lodging with fellow countryman Billy Hamill.
Kerr said: ''I''ll do my best all the time, and I''ll be listening to Gary and watching what he does, and also taking advice from Billy.''
