WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
15 March 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

POOLE 59 WOLVERHAMPTON 33 (Challenge)

Wolves were out-gunned in their season-opener as they went down to a 26-point defeat at Wimborne Road on Wednesday evening.

The home side were much the sharper from the gate, particularly in the early stages, and it was not until Heat 4 that a Wolves rider beat an opponent, Billy Hamill coming home in second place.

Poole took heat advantages from each of the first seven races to end any hopes of an away win, but the visitors were much more on the pace in the second half of the meeting with several riders sorting out mechanical problems.

One bright spot for Wolves was the battling riding of Freddie Lindgren, who overtook Jonas Davidsson for second place in Heat 7 and then got the better of Bjarne Pedersen to become the visitors'' first race winner in Heat 10.

Wolves now prepare for another testing match on Thursday as they travel to Peterborough in a meeting which will see skipper Peter Karlsson facing his club of 2005.

POOLE: Bjarne Pedersen 13+1, Antonio Lindback 11+1, Krzysztof Kasprzak 10+1, Craig Boyce 9+2, Greg Walasek 7, Daniel Davidsson 5+1, Jonas Davidsson 4+1.
WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren 10, Billy Hamill 8, Krzysztof Pecyna 6+1, Peter Karlsson 4, Magnus Karlsson 3, Christian Hefenbrock 2+1, William Lawson 0.
