VERNON DOWNS MILE CANCELLED
16 August 2004 - AMA Pro Racing

Due to a pending change of ownership of the Vernon Downs facility in Vernon, N.Y., the Sept. 11 AMA Progressive Insurance Flat Track Championship event has been cancelled.

As the track’s new ownership is not in control of the facility yet, its position is that there isn’t sufficient time to adequately prepare for the event.

According to Bruce Bober, AMA Pro Racing Flat Track Series Manager, the new owners would like to see an AMA Flat Track event at the track next year. “We’ll discuss the possibility of a future date at the facility,” said Bober. “Hopefully we can return to Vernon Downs in 2005.”

The series visits the historic Peoria Clubgrounds this weekend for the Peoria TT in Peoria, Ill.
