HAMILL COULD MISS OPENER!
07 March 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

NEW Wolverhampton signing Billy Hamill has seen his return to the UK delayed.

Hamill has been advised not to travel without a new visa - despite the fact that he already has a work permit in place.

And the earliest appointment he can get for a visa application is next Monday, March 13 - which means he is likely to miss the club''s trip to Poole two nights later.

Wolverhampton promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''The visa regulation is a new one and it was not worth the risk for Billy. He could have boarded the plane as planned in LA and then he could have been sent straight back when arriving in London.

''I can confirm this has already happened to one rider on Monday of this week and Billy decided he wasn''t prepared to take the risk.

''Now he has to go to the British Embassy in LA for the relevant visa and his appointment is next Monday - the day of our press and practice day - and I would suggest that rules him out of Poole.

''We can only hope an earlier appointment comes through but we do find this entire episode very frustrating.''
