SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE VUE boss Ian Thomas is banking on experienced duo Jason Crump and Joe Screen to keep the Aces riding high this season. The Manchester men upped attendances by 60 per cent as they finished runners-up in the Elite League and won the knockout cup last year. Thomas said: ''Both Jason and Joe are great professionals and they''ve been talking on a daily basis about the season ahead.'' SPEEDWAY 2 NEW Redcar signing Chris Kerr will spend the early weeks of the season under the wing of 1996 world champion Billy Hamill. Kerr will be staying with his fellow Camifornian and travelling to Wolverhampton meetings to see Hamill in action before heading north for Redcar''s launch next month. Redcar and Wolverhampton owner Chris Van Straaten said: ''It''s an arrangement which should benefit young Chris and help him settle in.''
