SPEEDWAY 1 DAVID Meldrum is on his way back to hometown club Berwick. Meldrum, 28, is the sixth signing confirmed by the border club with the season opener against Newcastle fast approaching. Bandits boss Peter Waite said: ''David knows this club and the supporters inside out and it will be great for him to be back riding here. It''s a good move both for him and for the club.'' SPEEDWAY 2 DANISH boss Jan Staechmann has sung the praises of Scunthorpe''s new track after putting his riders through their paces at Normanby Road. The full squad, including 2003 world champion Nicki Pedersen and Grand Prix star Bjarne Pedersen, had a pre-season session at the Conference League venue. And Staechmann said: ''It''s brilliant what they have achieved at Scunthorpe and the future looks very bright indeed. It was a good session for us.''
