In response to demands from fans, Shoei has launched the world’s first Yukio Kagayama replica helmet, and unlike many other racer reps, which are based on previous year’s designs, this one is a replica of what the Rizla Suzuki British Superbiker racer is wearing this season.

The unique design of Kagayama’s helmet has proved very popular with BSB race fans this year. It features blue and white stripes that echo those seen on the racer’s favourite car, the V8 AC Cobra, and striking Samurai graphics. Kagayama explains the meaning behind the design: “Originally my helmet featured Japanese orchids, but Feridax, Shoei’s distributor in the UK recommended the Samurai design instead, as they believed this reflected my aggressive and warrior style approach to riding – somebody who knows no fear, will never give-up and never be beaten. I agreed so we replaced the orchids with the cool Samurai graphics which when interpreted mean ‘protection from evil or disaster’ - and I’ve never looked back.”

The Shoei XR-1000 Kagayama replica will be available from dealers at the end of June. Steve Clifford, Sales Manager at Feridax adds: “Kagayama’s lid has been the subject of massive demand from riders since he arrived in BSB last year, and it is likely to be one of the best selling replicas of the year, thanks to the design and the Japanese star’s popularity with fans.”

The Shoei XR-1000 is one of the best value helmets around, with plain colours starting from £250. The Kagayama version will retail at £350. It will come in sizes S-XL, is approved to ECE 22.05 road standard and ACU Gold for the track, has a composite-fibre shell, D-ring strap fastener and washable lining. Sizes XS and XXL will be available later in the year.
