THE SECOND VICTORY OF THE SEASON FOR ALBERT CABESTANY
01 March 2006 - Sherco
The Sherco rider won his second victory of the 2006 Indoor Trials Championship of the World in Lisbon (Portugal).
This victory allowed him to recover two points on the present leader of the championship. The qualification round was characterized by a very close battle between the contenders with Raga, Fujinami and our own Cabestany, separated by only a single point. The same scenario followed in the final in which the riders were nearly even up until section seven with Raga holding a slight advantage. Albert received a measure of grace in the final section with a zero, while his rival achieved a “fiasco”, this failure allowed Albert to win this very exciting event. With this result, Cabestany reinforces his second place position in the provisional classification, and likewise trimmed the distance that separates him from Raga by two points, with three rounds left in the championship. Albert Cabestany: “This round has turned out to be very hard and we had to fight to the very end in order to obtain my second victory of the year. My results have gone from less to more in this second half of the championship and I find this very satisfying, although I do not believe that this has been my best season as a rider.” G.P.
