SPEEDWAY 1 ARENA-ESSEX have dramatically changed their team plans by signing Piotr Swiderski in place of the previously announced Stanislaw Burza. Swiderski''s Polish club had initially refused permission for him to ride in the UK, but then gave the 22-year-old clearance. Hammers boss Ronnie Russell said: ''Piotr is a star in the making and it was too good an opportunity to miss. But Stanislaw remains an important part of our future.'' SPEEDWAY 2 KING''S Lynn co-promoter Jonathan Chapman has hailed the riders'' response to the Ashley Jones Memorial Trophy. The Stars open the season on March 8 with a tribute to their 2005 team member who was tragically killed in Australia this winter. Chapman said: ''I''ve had phone calls from so many riders who want to be part of it and it was a shame we only had 16 spaces to fill!''
