THE RACE IS ON
22 February 2006 - AMA Pro Racing

Willoh & Chiudioni Racing for Regional Arenacross Championship and New Toyota Truck

After injuring himself during the AMA Arenacross Lites main at the Louisville stop on the Toyota Regional Arenacross Series, Jeff Willoh missed the Springfield, Ill., race and handed his points lead to Michael Chiudioni.

Willoh went home to California where he would spend the next week healing or putting the end to another season. Meanwhile, Chiudioni chose to race in Nashville. Feeling better, Willoh decided to drive across the country from him home in California to race at the Greensboro, N.C. event.

“After Louisville I didn’t know if I could finish out the series, but a few days on the couch and I started feeling better,” said Willoh. “I grabbed my baby, girlfriend and dog, jumped in the truck, and drove cross country to Greensboro to see if I could make up some points. I set out to do that and I accomplished my goal.”

Just west of Greensboro, Chiudioni had hands full in Nashville with top riders like Brad Modjewski, Brady Sharp and Dave Oettel. The troublesome weekend caused Chiudioni to lose 28 points to Willoh.

“There is only one race this weekend and that’s Sacramento,” said Chiudioni. “I can’t have another weekend like Nashville or Jeff (Willoh) will be all over me. I’ve never been in a position like this before, so I’m not sure how to handle it. Toyota is giving the winner of the series a Tacoma truck and I know Jeff is going to be on his game. I will have to be mistake-free this weekend”

Not only will series regulars Willoh, Chiudioni and Brian Edwards be at Arco Arena in Sacramento this weekend, supercross regular Justin Brayton and Toyota National Arenacross rider Jeff Northrop will be in attendance as well.
