SPEEDWAY 1

ARENA-ESSEX have signed Polish rider Stanislaw Burza to complete their team building for the new season.

The 27-year-old joins the Purfleet club on a 4.00 average and will start off in a reserve berth.

Hammers promoter Ronnie Russell said: ''The lad is very enthusiastic, he has always wanted to ride in England and I am pleased to be able to give him his chance.''

SPEEDWAY 2

WORLD Boxing superstar Ricky Hatton will be the guest of honour when Belle Vue launch their new season on Monday March 6.

The IBF and WBA light welterweight Champion is a legend in Manchester and will present the prizes at the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy.

Aces boss Ian Thomas said: ''We wanted a champion to mark the start of our season and they don''t come any bigger than Ricky.''

SPEEDWAY 3

REDCAR have finalised their team plans by snapping up the experienced Kevin Little for Bears'' debut season in the Premier League.

Little joins on a 4.91 average after previously racing for Workington, Berwick, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Coventry.

Co-promoter Gareth Rogers said: ''Kevin has ridden all the Premier League tracks and his feedback to the younger riders will be invaluable.''

SPEEDWAY 4

BERWICK have confirmed the signing of Lee Smethills who returns to the club after spending 2005 at Exeter.

Smethills proved to be a hit at Shielfield Park after joining the club mid-season two years ago and Bandits boss Peter Waite is pleased to have brought him back.

Waite said: ''Lee was always one we wanted back, and when he became available we had to pursue his signature again.''
