SPEEDWAY 1

RYE House have been awarded the Qualifying round for the Championship of Great Britian, which will be staged at Hoddesdon on April 22.

The news means that the Rockets'' Premier League opener against Sheffield moves forward to March 25.

Team boss John Sampford said: ''It''s a feather in the cap of the club as once again our stadium and track are recognised as being of a high standard.''

SPEEDWAY 2

GLASGOW have announced that accompanied children under the age of 12 will be admitted to the Ashfield Stadium free of charge this season.

Co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: ''We continually advertise ourselves as a family sport and realise it can be an expensive day out.

''We feel this new policy will encourage even more families to come along and enjoy a great fun day out.''
