H&H ENJOYS SUCCESSFUL DEBUT AT BRISTOL CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE SHOW
20 February 2006 - H & H
H&H declared itself very happy with the results of its debut sale at the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show
This was in fact the company’s first ever auction dedicated to motorcycles, bicycles and related motobilia, Shepton Mallet, February 11/12. 89 motorcycles came under the hammer of auctioneer Simon Hope, a number of which made way over their estimated prices. Not least of these was the 1982 Yamaha TZ 500 J. In many ways a customer replica of the OW48R used by Kenny Roberts to win the world title in 1980, it was hard fought over by those in the room and on the phone and was finally knocked down for £17,050. The four Velocettes on offer all sold well, with the 1930 GTP being on the money at £2,805, the 1939 KSS fetching way over estimate at £4,950, and the time warp 1922 ‘Ladies’ making three times more than expected at £6,600. The ex-Gary Nixon 1975 Suzuki 750 Racing also fared notably well, finding a new home for £9,900. The star amongst the bicycles was the 1950 BSA Winged Wheel Cycle Motor, which was on the money at £460, while a huge, three-part enamel Raleigh wall sign from the 1920s was notable among the motobilia lots, eventually fetching £1,100. Showroom lightboxes continue to find favour and both the Raleigh and BSA ones on offer fetched £275 apiece. Said Simon Hope, ''We were delighted with the way things went at Shepton Mallet and feel it has given us a firm foundation on which to build in the years to come. Details of our next dedicated motorcycle sale will be announced shortly and George Beale and his team are already busy lining up another attractive selection of machines for that event.''
