STEVE Boxall has been confirmed as Ipswich''s No.8 for the Elite League season - after the Foxhall club were forced into a change of plan.

Witches had previously declared Shaun Tacey for the position but the Mildenhall star was ineligible due to a rule change.

Promoter John Louis said: ''I have apologised to Shaun, who understands the situation completely. Steve is highly rated as a determined young British rider.''

WORLD Indoor Ice co-promoter Ian Thomas believes the line-up for Sunday''s meetings at Telford is amongst the strongest in the event''s history.

Former Champion Jan Staechmann is absent through injury but Thomas and colleague Graham Drury have still managed to book a record five previous winners.

Thomas said: ''Even the two debutants, Roman Povazhny and Adam Pietraszko, are accomplished indoor ice racers so it''s a very strong line-up.''
