‘SURFBOARD FIN’ KEEPS NEW BRIDGESTONE MOTOCROSS TYRE ON COURSE IN MUD AND SAND
08 February 2006 - Bridgestone UK Ltd

A new Bridgestone motocross tyre series – M101/M102 – introduces an innovative tread feature designed specifically to improve handling in sandy and muddy conditions.

Special stabilisers located around the centre line of the rear M102, and on both the centre line and shoulders of the front M101, boost both straight line drive and cornering stability. They act like the fins on a surfboard, cutting into the soft ground surface and limiting unintended lateral slip.

The height of the stabilisers is less than that of the main tread blocks, thus minimising the effect on the tyres’ self-cleaning ability.

Like the other models in Bridgestone’s motocross range, the latest series incorporates well-proven technologies that are now further enhanced by the addition of the new stabilisers.

M101/M102 replaces the M25/M26 series. It joins the M201/M202 (soft/mud), M401/ M402 (medium terrain) and M601/M602 (harder surfaces) tyres that are the choice of many leading riders. In the 2005 FIM world championship, these helped CAS Honda rider Joshua Coppins to two wins, eight more podium places and second overall positions for the season.

The M101 is supplied in 80/100-21 size and the M102 in 100/90-19 and 110/90-19. These will be available early 2006. A 110/100-18 version is planned for later introduction.
