NEW BRIDGESTONE BATTLE WING TYRES FOR TRAVEL ENDURO
06 February 2006 - Bridgestone UK Ltd
Sportier ride with no compromise on grip, stability and wear
Bridgestone has launched the new Battle Wing 501 and 502 tyres, targeting the growing number of committed adventure bikers looking for maximum sensation without sacrificing durability, stability and all-weather grip. Successor to the widely appreciated Trail Wing 101/152 range, the Battle Wing series combines rugged off-road looks with sportier on-road performance, longer wear life and more comfortable ride. It is designed specifically for riders of the latest adventure sport bikes, who seek the ability to move at will from city streets and motorways to dirt tracks and mountain bends. Improved front wheel grip and handling The front Battle Wing 501 tread pattern has the distinctive off-road styling, but with an 18% negative ratio and 5 mm tread depth that puts plenty of rubber on the road for extra grip and long wear life. Wet grip has been improved by incorporating short diagonal grooves in the centre tread region and using a special high-grip compound. The new profile and a series of angled base grooves provide better, more sporty handling and contact feel with the road. More stability and wet grip for drive tyre The Battle Wing 502 rear tyre has an optimised profile with a HTSPC (High Tensile Super Penetrated Cord) construction and steel MSB (Mono Spiral Belt). This gives higher compression stiffness and less deformation of the contact patch, adding significantly to the bike’s stability – both through corners and in high-speed straight-line riding – and cutting down on irregular wear. The 19% negative ratio, special silica compound and diagonal base grooves provide outstanding wet grip, while the 9 mm tread depth ensures long wear life. During the first launch phase, Bridgestone’s new Battle Wing tyres are available in the most common sizes for trail bikes: 110/80R19 and 150/70R17 and are the perfect fitment for machines such as Honda Varadero, Suzuki V-Strom, BMW R1150/1200GS, Kawasaki KLV1000, Triumph Tiger and Aprilia Caponord. Other sizes will be added later this year.
