WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY: NEW SIGNING
26 January 2006 - Wolverhampton Speedway

PARRYS International Wolves have agreed a deal with Lee Smethills to take over as the club''s No.8 this season.

It means the 23-year-old can come into the team on occasions when any of the lower-order riders are unavailable.
Riders named at No.8 in the Elite League have to be part of a Premier League one-to-seven and we understand that Smethills, who rode for Exeter in 2005, will be back at Berwick this year.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''People have been asking about James Grieves coming back again, but the rules this year indicate that the No.8 has to have a lower average than every regular member of the team.

''Lee has some good experience behind him and we''re sure he can do a fine job for us when called upon.''
