GONNA RIDE A CLASSIC
24 January 2006 - Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles since 1955
The Royal Enfield Bullet has been in continuous production for 50 years, making it the longest surviving production motorcycle around and offering today’s riders a genuine classic look and experience. In 1955 the British manufacturer established a satellite factory in Madras to help meet demand from the Indian Army and when the UK plant closed in 1970, production continued in India unabated. The latest incarnation of the Bullet, the Electra-X, appears to be a classic British bike of the 1950’s or ‘60’s at first glance. However, closer inspection reveals many components have been up-rated for reliability, performance and comfort. These include a modern 500cc lean-burn engine and 5-speed gearbox, electric start, disc front brake and gas-filled rear shock absorbers. It sells for £3,495 on the road. Royal Enfield motorcycles are distributed in the UK by Watsonian-Squire, who have been making sidecars in the Midlands since 1912. Contact 01386 700907 or visit www.royal-enfield.com
