SPEEDWAY 1 MIKAEL Max has agreed a deal to spend the bulk of next season with Arena-Essex. Max is recovering from a broken thigh sustained last July and fellow Swede Andreas Jonsson will start the season at Purfleet until he is fully fit. Arena-Essex boss Ronnie Russell said: ''There has been so much speculation over the last few weeks and I have decided to put an end to all the rumours.'' SPEEDWAY 2 REDCAR are to apply for Premier League membership as work on their new track is progressing well. The Bears will race on Thursday nights at the South Tees Motorsport Park, close to Middlesbrough FC''s Riverside Stadium, taking the league up to 14 clubs. Co-promoter Gareth Rogers explained: ''We needed to go on site and see how the work was progressing before we could make a decision on which league to run in.'' SPEEDWAY 3 BERWICK owner Peter Waite will wait until the end of the month before declaring his intention to continue at Premier League level. The British Speedway Promoters'' Association have asked him for clarification as he is still searching for sponsorship. He said: ''I haven''t yet signed a rider and won''t do until the end of the month when we know which league we will be in next season.''
