WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
10 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
WOLVERHAMPTON can take a massive step towards making second place their own in the Skybet Elite League - if they win at Peterborough on Wednesday (7.30pm).
And that would represent a more than satisfactory position for the Black Country side to go into the play-offs which will, ultimately, decide the champions. Boss Peter Adams admits the ideal position would be to finish top of the regular standings and head straight for the final - but a home draw in the eliminators would do nicely. He said: ''It would be great to go straight to the final, but on the other side of the coin that would mean my riders would be out of action for a period of time. ''On the other side of the coin we can go into the eliminators and stay sharp and try and keep winning meetings, but there is a long way to go before we are sure of that position. ''Peterborough is always a hard place to go and we will need to be on our toes right from the start. It''s a big, fast track and we can only hope all our boys are ready for the challenge ahead.'' The meeting sees the return of David Howe to the track where he started his professional career as a schoolboy before moving to Monmore Green in the league winning season of 2002. Freddie Lindgren moves into the main body of the team for Wolves and Chris Neath drops down to partner Adam Skornicki at reserve. Peterborough are at full strength after signing Hungarian Norbert Magosi, who was keen on a move to Wolverhampton during the winter before the club won the race for American Eric carrillo. PETERBOROUGH: Gary Havelock, Lukas Dryml, Henning Bager, Ales Dryml, Lee Richardson, Norbert Magosi, Ricky Ashworth. WOLVERHAMPTON: Mikael Max, Daniel Nermark R/R, Freddie Lindgren, Sam Ermolenko, David Howe, Chris Neath, Adam Skornicki.
