SPEEDWAY 1 DANNY Bird has joined Premier League Glasgow - and will travel to home meetings by plane from his southern base! Bird has been forced out of Reading''s Elite League plans and both Glasgow and neighbours Edinburgh moved in with an offer. He said: ''It allows me the chance to fly up in the morning and then be home by the end of the day which suits me perfectly.'' Glasgow have revealed that the deal has been partly financed by an anonymous sponsor. SPEEDWAY 2 RISING star Chris Schramm has agreed terms with Newport for a second spell with the club. Schramm made excellent progress at Berwick last season and will line up for the Wasps with another 2005 Bandit in Carl Wilkinson. Newport promoter Tim Stone said: ''Chris has the aggression but is becoming a more polished rider, and we''re looking forward to him knocking up some points for us.'' SPEEDWAY 3 SPEEDWAY is set for some rare coverage from BBC Radio Five Live this Thursday evening. The widow of legendary England international Simon Wigg will be interviewed about the much talked about new book, WIGGY! In His Own Words. Charlie Wigg will be one of the guests appearing on Sport On Five, hosted by Mark Saggers, from 9pm. You can tune in on either 909 or 693 on the Medium Wave. Or for people outside the UK, you can listen to the show via the BBC website at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/index.shtml?logo As well as talking about the success of the book, Charlie will also reflect on Simon''s brilliant speedway career in the 80s and what really happened leading up to his sad death from a brain tumour in November 2000. The coverage comes less than a fortnight after another national station, TalkSPORT, covered speedway on their New Year breakfast show with Mike Parry and Nigel Pearson. *WIGGY! runs to 272 pages, including 16 in glossy full colour and more than 200 great pictures, and costs just £15.99.
