FORMER Glasgow chief Brian Sands has had a bid to buy Premier League Berwick turned down by club owner Peter Waite.
The Bandits have yet to sign any riders for the new season which is now only eight weeks away.
Sands said: ''I believe there is a real threat to the future of the sport at Shielfield Park. I don''t want to see speedway die in Berwick.''

SPEEDWAY 2

ARENA-ESSEX boss Ronnie Russell has confirmed the club are in talks with Coventry''s Swedish Grand Prix star Andreas Jonsson.
The Hammers, who have been hit by news that former world champion Mark Loram wants to quit the club, are looking at a short term deal.
Russell said: ''Everyone now knows we''re talking to Andreas, but there''s a fuller picture which I''ll be happy to reveal when it happens.''
