SPEEDWAY 1 SWINDON promoter Alun Rossiter is confident that he has assembled his best team yet as the club enters its third season in the Elite League. The Robins have made three new signings with Sebastian Ulamek, Renat Gafurov and Adrian Miedzinski all joining the Blunsdon outfit. Rossiter said: ''I can honestly say I feel more excited by our prospects for this year than I have been for the previous two seasons.'' SPEEDWAY 2 EDINBURGH have confirmed that they have held preliminary talks with Danny Bird about becoming the Armadale club''s new No.1. Bird was ruled out of Reading''s Elite League plans due to confusion over his average, and could now return to the sport''s middle tier. Monarchs boss Alex Harkness said: ''We''ve spoken to Danny, he is an out-and-out number one and if he mastered Armadale he would do a job for us.'' FIXTURE SUN JAN 8: NEW YEAR CLASSIC at Newport 1pm
