ANOTHER TRIUMPHANT YEAR!
10 August 2004 - Triumph Motorcycles Ltd

Triumph Motorcycles today announced another year of fantastic sales figures for the first half of 2004.

With 22% growth year-on-year, Tue Mantoni, Commercial Director for Triumph commented: “More and more bikers seem to be moving away from out-and-out sports bikes and are considering alternatives. We have launched the café-racer styled Thruxton 900 and the Rocket III power-cruiser in the last 6 months and promising sales of both seem to reflect this.”

In the over 750cc category for the month of June 2004, the overall market is down 1% with Triumph up by a staggering 87%. Similarly for the first 6 months of 2004, the overall market is down 1% with Triumph up 23% for the same period.

Sales of the Thunderbird Sport are up 123% in the first 6 months of 2004, with sales of the Bonneville up 94% and the Tiger up 91% for the same period.

Even though the new Rocket III has only been in production for one month, there are already 175 Rocket’s on the road with more being delivered to dealers every week. With 1750 machines pre-ordered globally without anyone even sitting on the bike, sales are expected to rocket!

Against an undercurrent of disappointing big bike sales from fellow manufacturers, Triumph is showing the most noticeable sales growth. In the 600cc category, the Daytona 600 is showing a 130% increase in sales and the Speed Four a 78% increase.

The future looks extremely promising for Triumph. It is currently working towards an aggressive strategy of increasing sales globally by 25% per year until 2008, which would bring production to an all time high of 80,000 machines per year.

Note: All percentages are compared to same period in 2003.
