HULL OF A TEST FOR TIGERS WITH RECORD ON THE LINE
SHEFFIELD’S long and proud unbeaten home league record is very much on the line on Sunday with the visit of runaway leaders Hull Vikings (6pm). A bumper crowd is expected with plenty of travelling fans from East Yorkshire making the journey as Hull, Sheffield’s closest rivals, look to end a run stretching back to 1998. If the Vikings do, as expected, go on and win the title in the next few weeks it will complete a fairytale transformation from wooden spoonists to champions within the space of 12-months. Sheffield have booked the services of Owlerton specialist Simon Stead to replace injured skipper Sean Wilson, who is continuing his recovery from a broken bone in his neck. Co-promoter Neil Machin said: “The stadium will be open from 5pm and I would urge all supporters to get here early. “There will be a carnival type atmosphere and I’m sure there will be plenty of fantastic racing, it’s a meeting everyone here is looking forward to. “Hull are coming to town, not only to end our long record, but to take more points off us because we need points to get moving up that table.” SHEFFIELD: Simon Stead, Andrew Moore, Richard Hall, Ricky Ashworth, Andre Compton, James Birkinshaw, Ben Wilson. HULL: Ross Brady, Paul Thorp, Garry Stead, Emil Kramer, Magnus Karlsson, Joel Parsons, Emiliano Sanchez.
