APRILIA AND THE TWO-TIME WORLD CHAMPION, THIERRY VAN DEN BOSCH, TOGETHER FOR THE 2006 WORLD SUPERMOTARD
22 December 2005 - Aprilia

“Mr. Supermoto”, or the Frenchman and twice World Supermotard champion known to be the most charismatic and winning rider of the specialty, Thierry Van Den Bosch, will race for Aprilia next season.
The agreement with the 31 year-old rider from Agen represents a springboard for Aprilia’s goals of conquering the 2006 World Supermotard Championship as was already accomplished in 2004 (its debut year) with Jerome Giraudo.

“I am extremely motivated – commented Van Den Bosch - to race for Aprilia. The SXV is a great motorcycle, it is so different from all the others that I can’t wait to start the season. I believe in the bi-cylinder a lot and I think it is the road to the future. Already, Aprilia has surprised everyone with her competitiveness in the first two years of racing. No one imagined that she would walk away as the world champion in the first year of racing. I see a confident and motivated team, I tried out the motorcycle, and I find it excellent…I’m sure we’ll have a great season together”.

“We are so proud Van Den Bosch ranks in our official racing team – says Aprilia Brand Director, Leo Francesco Mercanti – it is just great. We count on him and on the team at large to confirm the Aprilia Twin leadership in the Supermotard World Championship. In a two years’ time racing we won a World title already. Two models since January on the market and an impressive team heading to excellence with Van Den Bosch will take us both through a successful racing season and to rewarding commercial victories as well.”
