WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY UPDATE
08 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WOLVES legend Ronnie Correy is set to make a shock track return for Belle Vue - and his first meeting for the Aces is expected to be against his old club at Monmore Green on Monday night!

Correy, a double British League winner with Wolves in 1991 and 1996, has also previously ridden for the Aces but retired after badly breaking his wrist in a crash at Coventry in August 2000. Now he is returning to the sport with Belle Vue having agreed to replace Finnish rider Kaj Laukkanen in a move which adds further interest to Monday''s meeting. Wolves promoter Chris van Straaten said: ''At no time did we put Ronnie under any pressure to make a track return. ''It was completely his idea, and of course we looked at the idea of including him in our team, but the grading system prevented us from doing so.'' Correy''s return on Monday is still subject to final confirmation from Aces promoter John Perrin.
WOLVES: Mikael Max, Daniel Nermark R/R, Frederik Lindgren, Sam Ermolenko, David Howe, Chris Neath, Adam Skornicki, Eric Carrillo. BELLE VUE: Kenneth Bjerre, Rory Schlein, Ronnie Correy, Joe Screen, Jason Crump, Jan Jaros, Brent Werner.
