SPEEDWAY 1 STOKE have completed their top five for next season by re-signing Paul Clews for a third year with the club. The return of the Reading asset means the Potters now just have to declare their two British reserves in order to finalise their line-up. Promoter Dave Tattum said: ''Paul has the ability to improve on his starting average, and that is what we need from him.'' SPEEDWAY 2 WOLVERHAMPTON promoter Chris Van Straaten has held talks with Ben Wilson with a view to the Sheffield youngster doubling-up next season. If a deal is completed it would mean Wilson sharing a reserve berth with William Lawson for the Elite League club. Van Straaten said: ''Ben is a rider more suited to the bigger circuits so it could be that he gets those matches and William gets the others.'' SPEEDWAY 3 NEWPORT promoter Tim Stone has bolstered the line-up for next weekend''s New Year Classic by booking Sean Wilson for the meeting. In addition, double Champion Chris Harris has confirmed that he will defend his title at the January 8 event. Stone said: ''I''m delighted to have the holder back, and it''s good for ourselves and Sean that he has agreed to ride with his own big meeting early in the season.''
