SPEEDWAY 1

READING co-promoter John Postlethwaite is excited with the club''s appointment of ex-World Champion Sam Ermolenko as the club''s Sporting Director.

Ermolenko will work alongside manager Jim Lynch and will have responsibility for technical issues and training programmes within the Racers team.

Postlethwaite said: ''Appointing Sam has always been in the back of my mind and I''m delighted it has come to fruition.''

SPEEDWAY 2

LUBOS Tomicek is moving up to the Elite League full-time with Oxford next season after two years with Newcastle.

Tomicek was an asset of the former Oxford promotion and has made several guest appearances for the Cowley club.

New promoter Aaron Lanney said: ''I am really pleased to get his signature as he is a great talent and very popular with Oxford fans.''

SPEEDWAY 3

WORKINGTON will issue a statement on Boxing Day concerning the fitness of No.1 Carl Stonehewer.

The Comets have been awaiting a medical report on Stonehewer, who suffered severe arm burns in a crash last summer.

Promoter Graham Drury said: ''I believe it''s only fair to both Carl and ourselves that we are totally sure he will be ready for March before we go further.''
